Enterprising Mom Connects Families
To Local Resources Through ParentClick.com
National web site provides comprehensive information on local family resources
(Santa Barbara, CA - May 25, 2006) Many stay-at-home moms dream of starting a business, but Rachael Ross Steidl actually went out and did it. Working from 8 p.m. until midnight most nights, and squeezing in an additional 20 hours a week when her three daughters are at school, she developed ParentClick.com, which has become an indispensable resource for parents.
The site was developed from the frustration that Rachael encountered while looking for preschools and other family resources. Who has time to read the newspaper when there are meals to cook, laundry to wash and dishes to clean? Once the kids are in bed, businesses are closed so how are parents supposed to find out which preschools require children to be potty trained or how old your child has to be to start swim lessons? At the time, as a mother of three-year old twins and a newborn, Rachael recognized how much the parents within her own community would benefit from having a simpler way to get information. In 2001, Rachael founded SBParent.com to make it easier to find information by centralizing family resources in Santa Barbara, California.
After seeing the impact this site had in her community with more than 24,000 monthly users and receiving requests from women across the country asking how they could provide similar services in their city, Rachael decided to expand by providing others with the technology, training and tools they need to set up a site in their community.
ParentClick.com has expanded to seven other cities since January 2006:
Santa Barbara, CA l San Diego, CA l Ventura, CA l Monterey, CA l Las Vegas, NV l Southwest Valley, AZ l Oahu, HI.
Rachael sees growth as an opportunity to support other women who want the flexibility of being a stay at home parent but miss being in the workforce. ParentClick.com gives women the opportunity to stimulate their minds and experience the challenge of running a small business while making a positive impact on their community. Each site is individually owned so that the individual can put their unique stamp on it and modify it to fit the needs of their community.
What will you find on each site:
"Our goal is to give parents choices by connecting them with the most comprehensive list of local resources. Parents no longer have to be overwhelmed when they need information," shares Rachael.
The FREE site gives parents one place to find all their links and information to businesses and programs and allows parents to do their research from home any time of the day. It also offers tips on a variety of subjects such as creative baby shower ideas, etiquette tips for kids, how to interview a babysitter, and research preschools. The classifieds section is one of the most widely used areas and it gives parents a convenient place to buy and sell used children's items. Parents can register to receive a monthly e-newsletter updating them on local events and activities. Parents are also encouraged to make a difference in their community through the families giving back section. Non-profits can post their needs by listing volunteer opportunities and wish lists which gives parents and children ideas on how they can support local organizations.
Rachael Ross Steidl's background includes 15 years in management and marketing, years of actively volunteering in her community and a Masters in Clinical Psychology. To interview Rachael Steidl, please call 805.448.2426 or email Rachael@sbparent.com.
