Purchasing A Service Agreement
Why should I purchase a service agreement when I can just start my own site?
Every community has something special to offer its families, but many parents don't have the time or energy to do the research to find out what is offered. Rachael decided that rather than hiring staff in other cities to research the information for "one site" ~ she would prefer to give others the opportunity to start their own business and manage their own sites. The bonus is that you get to do this without spending 4 years of researching and fine tuning what does and doesn't work. You also don't have to spend the time or money on building a site from scratch (This can cost $15,000+). You are using a customized technology/database designed for parents that has a proven record. ParentClick.com also continues to build on this technology every year and the territories to not pay extra for added enhancements.
This site offers flexibility, excitement, a chance to be creative and the opportunity for an individual to own a business that is helping others. It is for a person who has a passion for creating something unique. It is an opportunity for someone to build a business but it is not a quick way to get rich. We would love to have you on board but please take the time to consider whether this is the right fit for you. (The database is designed that it could be run as a for-profit or non-profit.)
What is included in the License Agreement?
- The shell of the site (including graphics, web functionality, tips pages, newsletter templates, etc)- really the only thing that is not included are the businesses since they are unique to each city.
- Training on how to use the database and keep your site updated.
- Marketing ideas and a "resource provider" chat area (developing your site and marketing to businesses/parents.)
- Exclusive Right to create a business using our technology and resources in a specified geographic territory.
- Web support
Is this site right for you?
- This site is perfect for anyone who has a passion for parenting.
- This site is perfect for anyone who enjoys outreach, marketing and sales.
- Although you do not need a lot of computer experience, it is recommended that you be comfortable using a computer. The database is very user-friendly an includes a help section.
How many hours will I have to work?
- You decide. You are the boss. We estimate that you will be working between 20-35 hours though this may vary depending on your goals and other factors. It is a great business to do with a partner as well if you want to share the responsibility and expense.
What will I be doing?
- You will spend a good amount of time in front of the computer, updating your database on the site, responding to emails from businesses and families, and more. (This can be done any hour of the day.)
- You will spend a fair amount of time researching what is available in your community for families.
- You will spend time networking with parents and businesses and attending local family events to distribute marketing materials.
- You will be making calls to businesses to get them to list on the site.
How do I make money?
- You have the option to charge businesses a listing fee to be on the site. They pay for a year in advance. The contract is online to simplify the process and invoicing can be done either by email or regular mail. Your goal is to list every business that caters to families. Not only will it increase your revenue but it also offers families choices by informing them of all their options.
- You will send out a weekly/monthly newsletter. You can sign up sponsors each month that pay a fee to advertise on it.
- You will also be able to add up to 6 major site sponsors for your site as well as additional newsletter sponsors.
Click these links if you would like to take the next step in the process and print out the Non-Disclosure and Application form. (You are simply agreeing not to copy or reproduce any of the forms that are given to you. You are not committing to anything.) Once we have received both these documents, we can send you a copy of the Service Agreement.
Please call us at any time with questions or to find out if your territory is available. We look forward to receiving your information.
The ParentClick.com History
In 2001, Rachael Ross Steidl founded SBParent.com (now ParentClick.com) ~ a resource site for families in Santa Barbara, California. Rachael’s background as a mother of 3 girls, 10 years in management, 5 years in marketing, 5 years of directing camps and children’s programs, years of actively volunteering in her community and a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology led her to create a website that connects parents to community resources.
Rachael found out how overwhelming it can be to become a parent after having her twins in 1998. As the President of the Santa Barbara Mothers of Multiples, she found other moms sharing similar challenges. Simple things like getting information about available kid's classes, finding a parenting group or even planning a birthday party were time consuming and frustrating. Phone book listings were incomplete and there wasn’t ever enough time to read the paper. Many of the great programs seemed to be word of mouth and if you were not in the loop, you missed out. After having spent many hours on the phone with new parents trying to connect them with some of the wonderful family resources in Santa Barbara, and after realizing that there was not one easy central location to find all the resources available, Rachael founded ParentClick.com to create a one-stop, web based research portal.
ParentClick.com was created to give parents clear information on family activities offered in their community for all ages, giving them the support they need to take advantage of all that is available. Not only does ParentClick.com list all the great businesses and programs but it also offers tips on a variety of subjects such as how to go about finding a babysitter or researching preschools. There is a regular e-newsletter sent to those registered on the site, updating parents on events in the community. The classified section was added to give parents a convenient place to buy and sell used children’s items and has become one of the site’s most popular pages. Parents can find babysitters or meet other families who want to share childcare. The Families Giving Back page of the site that provides parents with ideas of how they can make a difference in their community without it necessarily being a major time commitment or expense.
After seeing the impact this site had in her community and hearing comments from parents in other cities wanting this same support, Rachael decided it would be great to support others in providing this resource in their community. She realized that by offering service agreements to others, they would have the opportunity to build a business that has the potential to generate income for their family while allowing parents to stay at home with their kids. One of the things that Rachael has loved about being her own boss is the flexibility. It allows her to be with her kids when they are sick, or take the morning off to go to an infant class or mom's group. Running a website like ParentClick.com gives women (and men) the chance to stimulate their minds and experience the challenge of running a small business with the potential to make an impact on their community.
ParentClick.com reaches parents of all socio-economic levels and offers a broad range of information that is useful to parents, grandparents, teachers and others working with children. ParentClick.com is an organization committed to demonstrating compassion, dedication and integrity. Our mission is to help parents connect in their own community so that they are getting support and providing their children with wonderful experiences. Parents no longer have to be overwhelmed when they need information.
ParentClick.com was built from hard work, thorough research, a passion to support parents, a love of seeing families taking advantage of incredible programs and a commitment to a high quality, well designed, easy to use site. We take the needs of our families seriously and try to respond to everyone’s requests and comments as quickly as possible.
